Turning Five-Oh! Starting a blog. (and other stuff that really just doesn't matter.)

A half a century. I've got lots of friends who are long past this mark and for them this will just be laughable. For my many friends who haven't made it to this mark yet there may be some wisdom in what follows. Maybe not.

What I've learned:
#1 - The only difference between now and when I was fifteen that is of any note is that I now know I don't know. I've learned that much. Not much else.
That's it! That's the list of things I've learned from this journey so far.

Starting a blog:
I've had for a number of years in the back of my mind to start a blog. Like most who have, I have some things to say. Most of what I have to say is "stuff that really just doesn't matter". In fact, I will likely devote a portion of my blogging to discussing s-t-r-j-d-m. There you have it. On the first day of the fiftieth year of my life I will start a personal blog of things that come to mind to share. For you, feel free to drop by anytime and have a chat over a cup of coffee with me.
What will the blog be about, you ask? Any random number of things. But mostly things that begin with the letter C. Don't know why. Just think it will work out that way.

  • Things like Christ. I like to talk a lot about Christ and I can't think of anyone whose ideas and thoughts are more worth discussing than His.
  • Things like Coffee. I'm no flavor expert, but I do really enjoy a cup o' joe and lately I've been experimenting with cold brewing. This topic could devolve into a number of bad habit discussions like Carbonation, Cognac or Cooking. Even the occasional Cigar. (See what I did there?)
  • Things like Classic Rock. My love of all things music is never ending. As the topic suggests, my affair with all the folks from the Beatles to Boston, from Chicago to Chicane, and from Zepplin to ZZ Top never ends.
  • Things like Cars. I'm no car expert, but I love my motorsports as much as the next fella or female. I've always had an odd passion around the transportation topic. We could take that up.
  • Things like Computers. I've been in the industry for almost 30 years. I occasionally might have something to say about it. Lately have been Chrome-ing the house with voice and smart-ish stuff. We could go there.
  • Maybe even things like Carpentry. I know absolutely nothing about it, but man I want to learn. I really want to be a maker. Maybe we could talk that over together.
  • Importantly things like Companionship. I've met a lot of Cool people in my life. They have Cool things to say too. Often, they have Cool things to share. I'd like to introduce them to you from time to time. You all know me. You should meet each other. Cool?

The topics will not necessarily be in that order. In fact, I think we should call this thing “Not Necessarily in That Order.” NNiTO for short. Neato! Come join me. Let's have some fun together.
